Google Nest says "Heating" but nothing is coming out of the vent.

I recently installed a smart thermostat for the first time last week, and it hasn't worked properly since it was installed. It says it's "heating" but nothing comes out of the vent for hours at a time. Then all of a sudden the vents will turn on and run hot air out of them for about 3 or 4 minutes, then stop for several hours again. So I know the furnace works. Just not sure why nothing is coming out of the vents.

Hi outlast717,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the delay and for the trouble this may have caused you. I'd like to know more about it. A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostat do you have? In what country are you located? Do you have a C wire? Do you see any messages or codes on your thermostat or in the app? Please check your thermostat's power readout.

Check out this guide:

Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E:

  1. Go to your thermostat Quick View menu.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Look for Technical Info.
  4. Select Power.

Nest Thermostat 2020:

  1. Open the Google Home app and then tap the thermostat and then tap Settings .
  2. Select the Device Information.
  3. Choose Technical Information.

Best,

Jenelyn
