The 2 thermostats that came with my recently installed HVAC system both failed with the known wifi error.
I was sent 2 replacements (with a total of $460 sitting on my credit card), and NEITHER of them work.
Originally they kept rebooting, so I charged them over night.
NOW they both continually say "Please remove the thermostat from its base and re-attach it."
The original thermostats do not have this problem.
BOTH of the replacements have the problem.
One cannot say the base is wired wrong because the originals work (except the known wifi issue).
I see here that MANY have had these exact same issues.
I will contact support for yet another 2 replacements (and I expect NOT to be charged again).
The question is: what's up Google? Quality Control issues? Any plans to take care of the root cause rather than give your customers the "run around"?

UPDATE: Google support is having me return the faulty replacements and will send 2 more after that. Fingers crossed.

How are they wired?
Has this Wi-Fi issue been present since installation or is it something new?
Can you post a picture of each thermostat's base wiring?

Hi @Patrick_Caezza . . .
I haven't changed the wiring from what the installers did. The original thermostats work except for the known wifi issue, and I have 2 thermostats in 2 locations and no combination of display and base works, so wiring is not the problem.
Wi-fi issue appeared after installation (entirely new HVAC), it worked fine for a couple months, then both thermostats got the wi-fi error which is, apparently, a known defect with a chip in that batch.
Support has advised to return the replacements, so after all the necessary back and forth, hopefully newer thermostats will arrive.
Thanks.

I need to see how they wired the base for each Nest Thermostat.
Wiring problems can cause the Wi-Fi to not work.
