Thermostat says it has changed to "home" because of touch control

There was a post regarding this issue but there was no response from Google support. Basically the issue is that Nest thermostat thinks that someone's home because someone touched the Nest thermostat (non learning one) even though there's no one home. Even after I manually change the status to away, it goes back to home after 5 min. I use both Home and Nest app on Android. Anyone having the same issue?

Hello GoGoSyng,

I can totally understand how frustrating it must be to deal with the Nest Thermostat not recognizing the correct home status. It's odd that it keeps reverting to "home" even after you manually set it to "away."

Let's try a few things to isolate:

  1. Try resetting your Nest Thermostat and reconnecting it to both the Home and Nest apps. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues and restore proper functionality.
  2. If you have additional sensors connected to your Nest Thermostat, check their placement. Ensure they are not obstructed and are in an optimal location to accurately detect occupancy.
  3. Unstable Wi-Fi connections can lead to communication issues between your thermostat and the apps. Make sure your Wi-Fi network is stable, and consider restarting your router.
  4. Double-check your thermostat settings in both the Google Home app and Nest app. There may be a setting or configuration that needs adjustment to accurately reflect your home status.

Let us know how it goes.

Best regards,
Mark
