Thermostat schedules

I just installed this product. We go away very frequently and I would like to know if there is any way to have an alternative schedule for when we are away rather than having to edit the standard schedule we use when we are at home. I can't see any "choose" facility to activate different schedules

Also, the same applies to the hot water schedule.

We have a housekeeper who comes in twice a day to feed our pets so would still need the hot water on briefly and indeed the heating

Thanks

Yes, it would be nice to be able to save/load different schedules.  But it doesn't.  There's a work-around though....

Each mode has it's own schedule.  So you can program the Heat*Cool mode to have a schedule for when you're away and your normal Heat mode can have a schedule for when you are at home.

As you can gather I am new to this product. Thanks for your advice BUT I don't know how to get into the heat*cool mode. The only thing that shows up when I tap "mode" is  "heat" or "off".

Would appreciate your help

Ah, it sounds like you don't have central A/C then? If so, you won't have Cool or Heat*Cool modes. There goes that idea then.

Your option is to use the Home/Away function to trigger Eco mode. Eco lets you set a temp as low as 40°. When it switches to 'Away' it will override your schedule and maintain the Eco temp. When you're Home, it will follow your schedule.

Third option is just set it to Off when you leave. It has a built in Safety Temp function that will turn it back on if the temp falls below the safety setting of 40° or so.

You can learn more about the features and functions at support.google.com and select Nest & Thermostats.

And one last tidbit - it's important to have a C wire or Nest Power Adapter. As is true wirh all programmable thermostats, if the internal battery goes dead while you're away it stops working altogether and your pipes could freeze in the winter.
