Thermostat

Furnace fan is running continuously, want to make it auto through nest thermostat so that fan runs only when furnace is running

Which thermostat model do you have?

Here is some information gathering and troubleshooting that may help:

You could do some troubleshooting to help:

  • Send a picture of the wiring of your thermostat. 
  • While the thermostat is off the mounting plate does the fan continue to run?
  • Try temporarily removing the G wire and remounting the thermostat. Does the fan still run?
  • On some thermostats they can be configured to turn on the fan when heat is called. Normally it is not necessary because the furnace will do that. Verify that setting is correct.
  • Verify the equipment configured on the thermostat matches your actual HVAC equipment.
