Hi Eddys,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that your thermostat's temperature is stuck at 25 degrees, even after you've restarted and factory reset it. That's definitely not the experience we want you to have. I'm here to help!

To find the best solution, I have some questions for you:

  • What's your thermostat specific model? Please check out the following link for your reference: How to tell which Nest thermostat you have
  • When did the issue start?
  • Have you experienced any recent power outages or issues?

Please keep me posted.

Regards,
Juan

Hi Juan

Many thanks for your email.
The Thermostat is a 3rd Generation Learning Thermostat

The whole system has been off for much of the summer and when rebooted the setting temp is stuck at 25’ although on occasions it shows 24’ or 23’

Your thoughts on how to resolve will be much appreciated.

Kind Regards

Eddy

Hi Eddys,

Thanks for getting back to me! To troubleshoot further, I need a few more details:

  •  Do you have a room thermometer? If so, what is the temperature difference between the thermostat's reading and the actual room temperature?

In the meantime, I’d suggest the following steps:

  1. Check the WiFi signal strength by going to Settings > Technical Info > Network.
  2. Ensure that your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Gen) and the Nest app have the latest software update. For reference, you can check out this article: Update Nest products and apps

Please keep me in the loop.

Sincerely,
Juan

Hi Juan

The temperature difference varies averaging at about 5'C.

Wifi strength is excellent

Software confirmed as 'up to date.

Thanks for all your help.

Hi Eddys,

Thanks for your continued collaboration throughout this process.

Direct sunlight can cause the Nest thermostat temperature sensors to heat up, so the thermostat may think that the ambient temperature in the room is higher than it is. Based on this, I'd like to know the following:

Is your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Gen) exposed directly to the sunlight or near a heat source? if so, please follow the following steps:

  1. Open the Nest app.
  2. Select the thermostat.
  3. Go to Settings.
  4. Select Nest Sense.
  5. Select Sunblock.
  6. If Sunblock is off, turn it on with the slider.

I look forward to your response.

Best,
Juan
