I’m being told my wiring is not compatible with my new nest thermostat. I find it hard to believe as my system is a simple heat/cool system. Nothing fancy. The heat side has two wires, white and red. The cool dude has 3, green, yellow and Rc. There is no slot for Rc on the nest. Is there a work around?

Based on what your wrote it looks like it could be compatible with some Nest Thermostats. Do you have the "Nest Thermostat" or something else? See How to tell which Nest thermostat to verify.
Also, if possible reply with a photo of the wiring of your current (old) thermostat.

I do have a nest and did go through their compatibility test before purchasing. I’ll see if I can post a pic

Hey folks,
Thanks for answering, sporfrog and cPatrick_Caezza.
richiev007, if what you have is our new Nest Thermostat, your system is not compatible. The reason behind is our Nest Thermostat only has one R terminal while your system has both Rc and Rh. You might want to have the Nest Learning Thermostat instead.
Hope this clarifies the confusion.
Best,
Melba
