Tried Migrating from Nest to Google Home - totally hosed

Tried doing the migration from Nest app to Google Home.  Now nothing works and I can't do anything in either app.  Some details...

- I have an early generation Nest Thermostat

- I have a gen 2 Nest Doorbell.

-  I can't get into my Nest account using the credentials I was using before migration.  Reset password link does not send an email.

-  I can log into the Nest app using a Gmail account I created, but there are no devices listed.

-  No devices listed in the Google Home app.  When I try to add devices using "works with Google" neither the Nest Thermostat nor the doorbell are listed.  When I select "Nest" it takes me to the Nest Login page where neither of my login credentials work.

-  Tried adding devices in Nest app, but they can't be found.  The thermostat says "connected to app" in settings so no code is displayed.

 At this point, totally lost.  I have run out of things to try.

Help is appreciated!

@JayT

I'm a bit confused about your situation, and so have a few questions and comments.

Once you've migrated successfully, you cannot log into the Google Nest app with your old credentials; in fact, that's an indication your migration was successful (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9297676?hl=en#verify-migration).

The 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell can only be installed in the Google Home app, so did you install it after you migrated?

Is the gmail account you said you created the same gmail account to which you migrated? Or do you have 2 gmail accounts?

Are you logging into the Google Home app with that same account to which you migrated? Are you connecting to the same Google Nest "home/structure" that you had in the Google Nest app?

The "Works with Google" option is NOT used to install Nest thermostats or doorbells.

Which Nest thermostat do you have, the Nest Learning Thermostat, the Nest Thermostat E, or the Nest Thermostat?

Thanks for your reply.  Turns out I must have been logged into a different Google account when I did the migration.  In all my confusion I must logged into the other account.  I logged into the other account and can see the thermostat and doorbell.  When I have a bit more time, will keep working with both.

So just to be sure, the Nest app is now dead to me and everything must be done in the Google Home app?  This is still a bit confusing to me.

Thanks for all your help!

@JayT

No, the Google Nest app is NOT dead. Any cameras or doorbells that were originally installed in the Google Nest app continue to be administered and have notifications managed in the Google Nest app, though you can view the cameras in the Google Home app and on the "preview"/beta home.google.com website.

If you installed your Nest thermostat in the Google Nest app, you can still access it in the Google Nest app, but it should now also appear in the Google Home app.

Google Nest is halfway between 2 apps.
