Two thermostats on one unit?

I have one HVAC unit that is sized for my first floor and an unfinished basement. I currently have a Nest thermostat for the first floor.

When the basement is finished, would it be possible to add another Nest thermostat in the basement, and have them independently control the same unit?

Hi lewist57,

Thanks for reaching out to us. You can only have two Nest Thermostats if you're unit is a zoning system. In systems with zones, each thermostat separately regulates the heating and cooling of various rooms in the house. In zonal systems, thermostats can either regulate the identical heating and cooling system or a separate system for each thermostat.

Let us know if you have any other questions. We're happy to help.

Best,

Zoe
