Unable to add gen 1 temperature sensor to Gen 3 thermostat

danielmo

I have a Gen 3 thermostat with checked - Model Display-3.7 being reposted from the nest app.

When i try to pair a Gen 1 temp sensor in the Nest app it says

this nest temperature sensor won't work with your thermostat

It then lists the ones it is compatible with.

I have tryed to restarting the thermostate and taking the battery out of the temp seneor for 10 mins and retrying.

My network is fine and works with everything else and bluetooth was turned on, on the phone.

The senero was a few CM's away from the theromostate and could hardly get any closer.

Hi @danielmo,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I understand that you're having difficulties connecting your Nest Temperature Sensor to your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen). It sounds like you're getting a compatibility error message even though the sensor appears in the compatibility list. I appreciate you sharing that information and the troubleshooting steps you've already tried. Let's work together to get this resolved. To help with that, I have a few questions for you:

  • Can you confirm the country where you originally purchased your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Gen)?
  • Are you running the latest version of the Nest app?
  • Is the Nest Temperature Sensor already showing in the Nest app?

Please note: The Nest Temperature Sensor is only compatible with thermostats sold in the United States, Canada, or Mexico. Thermostats designed for use in other countries won't work with the sensor, and the app will prevent the connection.

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Regards,
Jonathan
