Hi AureaBaja,
Thanks for reaching out to the community! I’m sorry to hear that you’re not able to use your Nest thermostat through the app and you have to get up to start it manually. I’d be happy to help by connecting your thermostat to your phone!
To better guide you through the process, I’d like to ask the following:
- What is the model of your Nest thermostat? Here’s a helpful article about how to identify your thermostat model.
- Are you using the Nest app or Google Home app?
- Is this the first time you’re trying to connect your thermostat to your mobile device?
- Did you receive any error code during the pairing process?
- Is your phone connected under the same WiFi network as the thermostat?
- What type of mobile device do you have (Android or iOS)?
For now, I’d suggest the following:
- Make sure that you have the latest version of the Nest app (for Nest Learning Thermostat or Nest Thermostat E) or the Home app (Nest Thermostat) on your phone or tablet.
- Check the settings on your WiFi router or access point. Restrictive firewall security or parental control settings on your Wi-Fi router can sometimes block communication with Nest servers. For more information, you can check out this article: Can't connect Nest thermostat to the app.
Please keep me posted.
Best regards,
Jenniffer
