Unexpected display message

I get the message “To use the thermostat, attach the thermostat to its base”.

however the thermostat is wall mounted. What does this mean I should do?

The plastic-y  thing that screws onto  the wall is the "base" which they speak.

Them, Put the top round thing-y onto the base and push  the plastic thing-y in.

Dont push too hard. It should slide right in,
