I've upgraded from Generation 2 to Generation 4 - I've used the same connection but it is having power problems and wants me to get a Connector.. Here are the phots of the old connections (which worked fine)

Hi @jplaiosa,

Thanks for contacting this community! I understand that you've upgraded from the Nest Learning Thermostat (2nd gen) to the Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen). According to the photos you sent, which I appreciate, the first thermostat only shows four wires. Although the new thermostat has the same wiring, you are experiencing power issues. No worries, I'm happy to help you!

To ensure you receive the appropriate troubleshooting steps, I would like to ask you a few questions before we proceed:

  • Is there a wiring report or an error message on your thermostat or in the Google Home app?
  • What is the make and model of your HVAC system?
  • When was the last maintenance performed on your HVAC system?
  • Have you had any recent power outages?
  • Are the power breakers on, and is your home currently receiving power?
  • Are all the thermostat's wires seated firmly in their terminals (with no loose or exposed wires)?

In the meantime, I would like to share some troubleshooting steps that could help you:

  • Check the condition of the HVAC fuse.
  • Check the condition of the air filter.
  • Try to charge the thermostat with a USB-C cable.

Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.

Best regards,
Eduardo
