WHY IS MY NEST THERMOSTAT WHICH IS OFF READING 79 DEGREES NOW?

I had a 3rd Generation Thermostat installed at a location I live 40 miles away from and am slowly moving back to. When a neighbor had gone in to check something last Friday, he noticed I accidentally left the heat on, and since it was quite hot in there, suggested I turn it off, which I did. I now am checking both my IPad and IPhone and the reading has gone up from 70 to 79 degrees!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS DEVICE. (I’m am still far away and it is now night, I still have it turned off). Any advice?

Hello @patti4040

Thanks for bringing this concern to our attention and posting it in the community. I apologize for the inconvenience the heating on your thermostat may be causing.

I understand that you accidentally left the heat on, and it seems to be constantly running and displaying inaccurate temperatures.

Before providing further assistance, I need to confirm a few details:

  • Does the thermostat screen indicate that it's actively calling for heat?
  • What type of furnace do you have (gas, electric, etc.)?
  • Did you select the correct fuel type?
  • Have you noticed any other unusual behaviors since the issue began?

Once I have this information, we can investigate the problem and provide the best solution.

Regards,

Catheryn
