I have a 3rd gen Learning Thermostat. Online it says I should be able to lock the thermostat and set limits for temperature in heating a cooling modes. I went to Cool, set a pin and it asked the range of temperatures I wanted. OK, so hopefully that worked. Unlocked the thermostat, then set it to Heat and then Lock and it asked for a range of temperatures, but it was the temperatures I set for Cool. Do I just set new temperatures and it will remember them for Heat? I don't have access to the thermostat as it's in a house that I rent, so I can't confirm.
I called Google and the person said I can't do what the online instructions say I can do, I have to set a schedule and that's the only way to set max. and min. temperatures. This made no sense to me, so now I'm posting here to get help.
I don't want someone who rents the house to set the temp too low or too high. I should be able to stop this via the Lock Pin? Again, just not sure if the Heat and Cool settings I specified are being saved or not. Any help would be appreciated.
