What does the letter in parentheses following the lin reading signify?

My Nest learning thermostat with C wire connected has a lin reading of 200 mA.  This reading is correct, but it's followed by a letter in parentheses which changes, I have seen (i) and (c) and I think there are others.  What do these letters mean?

Hi cajoogoo,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum. I want to check and see if you are still in need of any help. If so, (i) means that your thermostat is in inactive mode, where it does not call for any heat or cooling, and (c) means that your thermostat has a C wire connected to it. You can check on this article to learn more about Nest Thermostat power readings.

Let us know if you have any other questions. We're happy to help.

Best,

Zoe
