What to do with Y wire?

Installing thermostat for my heat only, no AC system. What do I do with the Y wire, since I don’t have air conditioning? I tried connecting it to the Y connector, and I also tried leaving it unattached. In both cases, the furnace starts up, but then shuts off after a few minutes.   Thank you in advance for your help.0043F3FE-A7E7-4D50-98DA-B9A26EF17AB8.jpeg

Update: I taped off wire Y, leaving it unconnected. Thermostat works for a while, a half hour or more, heating the house nicely. But then the furnace turns off before reaching target temperature, and then it tries to come back on. It sounds like it is trying to turn back on, over and over. Any ideas on what’s wrong?
