I truly don't know if I can handle this anymore. If I set the thermostat to 70 degrees why do I have to sit in a house that is 69 degrees , and the heat consistently refuses to come on? I have asked about this before and was told it's the "maintenance band". However the help article says the maintenance band is 0.7 degrees below target. So again: if I set the heat to 70, why does the heat not come on when the Nest displays a temperature of 69? It seems that this "maintenance band" is more like 2 degrees which is ridiculous. Is it the same with other Nests?
Note: if I set the heat to 71, the heat consistently overshoots to 72 or 73 which is too hot for me.

Hello Ocean1988,
Thanks for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry about your Nest Thermostat's set temperature. I understand this can be confusing, but I definitely wanted to stop by and shed some light on your situation here.
Technically, hindering your system from turning on with a degree difference from the ambient temperature to your set temperature helps to avoid sudden system activation and deactivation as soon as it hits the temperature, which could harm or damage the system and thermostat. A temperature difference of at least 3 degrees would suffice, giving the system enough time to generate heat, cool, and cool down. If the temperature overshoots, managing the thermostat's settings might help. What type of HVAC system do you have?
Let us know if you have more questions.
Regards,
Mark
