Why isn't there a "Multiple Schedule" option?

davidbutts77

This is a repeated request that keeps getting the same response "We'll pass it along.", "your feedback is valuable", and other similar BS.  It is a common request and an easy fix, so here we go again.

Please explain why there is not an option to set multiple schedules to toggle between depending on who is home.  I'm not looking for a work around by using the ECO mode or other features.  Instead, I (and many others) want the feature to set more than one schedule and to select which one we want on a given day.  This is a basic feature on most thermostats that came before Nest.

Please refrain from empty replies as to how you appreciate my feedback and that you'll look into it.  Instead, I want to know why Google refuses to add this feature.  Also, please do not lock down this thread until a satisfactory resolution has been provided.

Hey davidbutts77,

We appreciate your interest however; we don't have any news to share about a Multiple Schedule option for your Nest Thermostat. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback.

I also suggest that you send feedback by following this link. Let me know if you have other questions or concerns, otherwise I’ll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Best,

Mel

Hi Mel,

I don't believe you actually read my post.  As a "community specialist" I expect more.   I requested an actual response as opposed to "we appreciate your interest" and "we're always looking to improve".  Obviously those canned statements are BS and completely worthless.  Please try again.

Allow me to reiterate:

Please explain why there is not an option to set multiple schedules to toggle between depending on who is home.  I'm not looking for a work around by using the ECO mode or other features.  Instead, I (and many others) want the feature to set more than one schedule and to select which one we want on a given day.  This is a basic feature on most thermostats that came before Nest.

Please refrain from empty replies as to how you appreciate my feedback and that you'll look into it.  Instead, I want to know why Google refuses to add this feature.  Also, please do not lock down this thread until a satisfactory resolution has been provided.

I do have two additional questions/concerns:
1) the link you provided was of no help as I do not use a google home app.  Why would you provide a different avenue for voicing my concern instead of making an actual effort to address it?

2) Why are you shutting this thread down?  It went 3 weeks without a response, then the only response contained (1) a meaningless statement that avoided the question (2) a link that was of no help and (3) the threat to shut down a reasonable request for a basic feature to most thermostats.

Looking forward to an actual response.

Still waiting for a response.

Hello there,

We value our customers' input. I'll bet other users would love to have this feature too. Creating multiple schedules with other members is not available. Reset assured, we're really working to bring more features to Google Nest devices. So, please let our product team know about it. Also, let us know if you have any other questions or concerns, as this thread will be locked within 24 hours.

Thanks for assisting, Mel.

Regards,

Mark

If you value customer input, would you mind actually answering the questions they ask instead of writing an empty response 6 weeks after it was posted?

Before you lock this thread, would you please address the following questions/concerns:

  1. Please clarify your third sentence in your last response.
You wrote "Creating multiple schedules with other members is not available."
However, we're not requesting to share schedules with other member, so I don't think you understand the basic question.  We want to have multiple schedules for one user to be able to toggle between.  This is a basic feature of most thermostats for obvious reasons which have been outlined above.

  2. How can I let the product team know and why won't you just pass along our requests?
the link you provided was of no help as I do not use a google home app.  Why would you provide a different avenue for voicing my concern instead of making an actual effort to address it?

  3.  Why are you shutting this thread down?
A previous question went 3 weeks without a response and the last went 6 weeks.  Then the only response contained (1) a meaningless statement that avoided the question (2) a link that was of no help and (3) the threat to shut down a reasonable request for a basic feature to most thermostats.

Still looking forward to an actual response that makes an honest effort to move toward a solution or at least explains why you don't care to do so.

one more question.  What assistance did Mel provide that you felt was worthy of thanks?  I honestly want an answer to that question.

Markjosephp are you still employed or were you let go for responding to customers which seems to be against Google's business model?

Two plus months have elapsed and I'm still waiting for a reasonable response.

@Markjosephp Pushing 4 months and still no meaningful response to our questions (see posts below).  Can you please clarify the following:

  • Why do "community specialists" seem to prefer to shut down conversations instead of providing solutions?  And "housekeeping" is not an acceptable answer.
  • Can you please clarify why there is no news to report on this issue?  That is, why is Google unwilling (or unable) to address this remarkably simple and widely desired request?
  • Finally, I would like to request that you try to address these questions while refraining from vacuous customer service speak.

Looking forward to something that moves this concern forward instead of brushing it aside.
Thank you.

Thank you David.

I am also looking for a real answer to this question. As the weather has warmed up I would like to keep my "winter" settings and change the heating schedule of my house.

As David pointed out this was a feature on analogue thermostats. How, with nest being an "smart" thermostat, is multiple schedules not a feature? Will it be a feature? Is there anybody out there? Or is this just as usual ignored?

I defer any satisfactory answer decision to David
