Will Gen 3 Nest Thermostat and Chromecast Receive the Same Updates as Newer Models?

Hi everyone,

I currently have the Nest Learning Thermostat Gen 3 and a Chromecast with Google TV 4K. I've noticed that the newer Gen 4 Nest Thermostat and the latest Google TV streamer have received some exciting updates, including enhanced animations and deeper integration with Google Home.

I'm wondering if these updates will be backward compatible with my devices. Specifically:

  • Will my Gen 3 Nest Thermostat receive the same animations and functionality as the Gen 4 model?
  • Will my Chromecast with Google TV 4K get the same Google Home integration as the latest Google TV streamer?

I'd appreciate any insights or information on this. Thanks in advance!

I highly doubt it. They may look similar, but the hardware in them is different.
