Will Temperature Sensor have full functionality with 2nd Gen Thermostat?

The temp sensor was successfully added to the NEST app & shows temp in the room it's in but doesn't show a (sensor) thermometer display in the NEST app, as does the Thermostat itself  (i.e. no round dial display to set temp according to sensor).  I have a 2nd Gen Learning Thermostat.   I understand NEST Temp Sensors may not work completely with 2nd Gen Learning Thermostats.  Is this correct?   I want to be able to set a temp on the sensor and have the Thermostat regulate heat accordingly, for that room.   In other words, I want the NEST Thermostat to prioritize the temp set on the sensor and can't do that.

They only work with the Nest E and 3rd Gen Nest Tstats.

I had to return my temp sensors becuase they are not compatible with my 2nd gen thermostat. The app told me that when I went to add the temp sensors.
