Will a Nest work with Aprilaire products and HVAC

A questions I'm trying to get answered.  Wish there was a 800 number to call

I'm trying to get my Nest 3rd gen to work with an Aprilaire 8145NC and Aprilaire 800 humifier.

The main. HVAC system is a TRANE Forced heat and AC unit.

Any help would be appreciated so I can keep features with Next that AprilAire Thermostat doesn't have.

Hi @th3bigguy,

Thank you for contacting this community! I understand that you are trying to use your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) with your Aprilaire 8145NC and Aprilaire 800 humidifier, even though the main HVAC is a Trane system, I'm here to help you.

Thank you for taking the time to look for a phone number to call, but that number is no longer in use. To get in touch with us, please visit our Contact Us page.

To ensure you get the best features from your thermostat, I would like to ask you a few questions before proceeding:

  • What are the letters or labels of the terminals your wires are connected to? (e.g., R, Y, G, W, C, O/B, AUX/E, etc.)
  • Is your system a high-voltage (120V/240V) system, or a low-voltage (24V) system?
  • Does your system have multiple stages for heating or cooling?
  • Do you have a zoned HVAC system (meaning multiple thermostats controlling different temperature areas)?
  • Does your HVAC system have stranded wires?

Visit our Help Center to learn more about Nest thermostat compatibility.

Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.

Best regards,
Eduardo

I don't really think you helped answer any of my questions or issues.

I can wire the system up to what ever is needed all 8 wires are used and I'm moving to a 10 wire.  The HVAC system is a 120V with the Thermostat being 24v.  I have a multistage system (standard) with heating and cooling.

What I can't find is if the Nest Gen 3 will allow me to do heating and cool and run a fresh air system and humidifier.

Thanks.

Hi @th3bigguy,

I understand your comments regarding my questions; they were mostly to further verify your system and thus allow me to provide you with much more information. However, you mention something very important. Your HVAC system is 120V.

Because of this, the Nest Learning Thermostat, Nest Thermostat, and Nest Thermostat E are not compatible with high voltage.

In this case, if you wish to use the Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen), it would indeed be necessary to get professional help setting up your Nest products so they can make the necessary arrangements for it to function.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,
Eduardo
