I have an O wire and a B wire but no C. The other wires, W, R, G, and Y are in the right places. I have tried the O in O/B with B in the C connection but that did not work. So, I reversed that an put the B in O/B and O in C. Progress, the system powers on and kicks over, but the Nest is working on stored battery power and shuts down once drained. Help, please.

Hi MagnusXC90,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To know more about this issue, I’d like to confirm, where are you located? Do you still have the manual of your HVAC system? Which Nest Thermostat do you have? Let us know your update here.
Regards,
Emerson

Thank you. I live in upstate NY so I don’t have a heatpump. I have the installation instructions and the user’s information manual for the Amana modulating gas furnace with an Aprilaire 600 series humidifier . The Nest I’m hooking up is the 3rd gen learning thermostat. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hello MagnusXC90,
I appreciate your update. You may check your control board and check where the other end of those wires are connected. In case you find it, please share the photo here. Also, try checking the meaning of the O and B wire from the manual of your furnace.
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks,
Emerson

I honestly don’t know what I’m looking at, but we have two zones and a Bryant evolution 2 stage air conditioner.
When the yellow is in Y1 the Rh no longer has power.

Hey MagnusXC90,
Thanks for getting back to us. Proprietary systems usually only work with thermostats made by the same manufacturer. But some proprietary systems may also have the option to use standard heating system wires. Contact a Nest Pro and have them check if your proprietary system can be rewired to be Nest compatible.
Best,
Emerson
