trying to wire my Nest.  The old thermostat only had 4 wires.  Green wire in the green slot.  Black wire in the white slot. Yellow in the yellow slot, and red in the red slot.  On the nest, there is not a tab for a black wire.  Which slot does the black wire (that is currently in the white slot belong?

Thanks

Tim

@Timlentz ,

Yes indeed your wires in use are R, Y, W, and G.  You can the Nest Thermostat and no need to a Nest Learning Thermostat unless you want all the bells a pond features included.

Hi there,

Thanks for posting in the Google Nest Community forum. I just want to check if you managed to see the response above. It looks like you have a conventional system which is compatible with any Nest Thermostats. However, if you prefer to use the Nest Thermostat 2020, you might need to have a C wire for common or a Nest Power Connector to ensure that your thermostat will receive sufficient power.

I appreciate the help, @CoolingWizard.
