Yet another non-connecting Nest thermostat

  • As with so many others, I cannot get the Google Home app to interact with the newly installed Nest thermostat (regular, non-learning model).  Thermostat is never detected (although phone's system works fine).  Cannot install by hand as Home will not permit data entry of any kind on order to enter the last 4 characters of the 14 digit sequence (it's a Google Pixel phone, and yes - Android version is up to date).  As expected, none of the scores of posts on the matter provides any posted help, and it's the weekend; so help is closed 😞  Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome - you don't want to know what I think of your company or products right now 😞

Hello folks,

Oh no! Thanks for bringing this up, and I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues adding your Nest Thermostat to your Google Pixel phones. Let's sort this out.

By any chance, do you have different devices, such as other phones or tablets? If so, please try adding your Nest Thermostat and using it with your preferred email accounts. Once the setup is complete, refresh the Google Home app on your phones, and the thermostat should appear on the homepage.

Hi Mark, 

I finally got mine working that night. I could lie and say I figured it out but I ended up watching YouTube videos and entered the wiring info from the ones from there in order to get past the Google app glitch. The app finally accepted it instead of continuing to tell me that it wasn't compatible. Everything has run great ever since. Thanks for checking on us Mark. I appreciate you.
