We got a nest thermostat for Christmas. My husband set it up on his phone but he can't figure out how to get it on my phone, as well. Can two people have it on their phones? He loaded a google on my phone but still can't get the nest on my phone to work . We have the same apple phones.

He will just need to add you to the family \ home, instructions are below:

I should add  my spouse shared the link, clicked on it and followed steps. Where we get stuck, it is asking for a code, you are to walk over to the thermastat and see the temp. or code but my spouse already done that and doesn't know what that code was so that is where we are getting stuck, asking for the code.

a code shouldnt be required to add a family member to the nest home, especially at device level.

It sounds like you at stuck at the Entry Key point in the setup,

  1. Press your thermostat's ring to open the Quick View. menu.
  2. Choose Settings .
  3. Turn the ring to Nest app and press the ring to select. it.
  4. Select Get Entry Key to retrieve a unique entry key. Follow the next steps below to use your Nest app to. add your thermostat to your account.

We clicked on the nest app but there is nothing that says get entry key.  It says its already connected to an account and the only option you have is done. I appreciate your help, what next?

Sorry to clarify those instructions were for the thermostat itself not the app

I am having th exact same problem....

Same issue here. The previous answers don't help because there's not an option on the device to get a unique code. It just says "already connected"

But my thermostat only shows “This thermostat is connected to an account.”  The is a blue “done” button but no other option.

Steps 1 through 3 work. Step 4 isn't an available option.

So... The answer is, as far as you know there should be an option that several of us are telling you we don't have but you insist it should be there so good luck to us I guess?

When we follow your instructions, all we get on the device is "Already connected" and "Done" but it's not connecting to the second phone.

Have you tried Adding the family member through the nest or Google home account?  Once they are added they would just need to log into the app and the nest should appear right away.

Trying to connect Nest thermostat with iPhone 12 and getting message already connected to an account.
I can see the location on my device but it doesn’t open to allow me to change/see the thermostat.
I logged out, reinstalled the Nest app and nothing worked.

If you just got a new phone you don't need to connect anything, you should just install the nest app, log into your account, and it will appear.  Be sure it's the same account as your old phone

Can I just get an answer to connecting my wife to the DOORBELL that I just put in and that I am connected to. I DON’T need info on connecting a second phone to a thermostat.

It's the same process , you would , from your existing Google home account that is linked to the doorbell, invite your wife's Google account to the "family" , at which point all she needs to do is log in , and the device will appear for her.

Google home, settings, household, invite member, add your wife's Gmail account.

Same problem as everyone above us.. so no answers yet?

I answered at the top, you simply need to have the person who installed the nest first invite the second person to the family though the app, the second person will then have access.  You aren't adding a phone to the nest, your adding a user.

Does t work. I invited the other person through the Google home app, they accepted, they show up in my Google "family," but they have no access to the thermostat. They don't magically show up in the nest app. Something is not working between the Google home and the nest app.

Okay, try opening the nest app, click into settings, family and see if that person is showing up there, if not try to add them through the nest app directly.  This should be required but things may have changed in the process!

Also question, can you see and control your thermostat in the Google home app?

Hmmm... No. Should I be able to? Nest thermostat doesn't appear to be one of the devices I can add...

Yes it should show up(see images I have attached, should be at top as thermostat, and as a device)

Can you also remove the image you uploaded that shows your email address , it will get flagged and removed anyways but good to protect your privacy.

I'm going to uninstall and reinstall my Google home app.

I'm having this same issue. My wife initially set up the connection to Nest learning thermostat. We have tried many times and I have repeatedly been invited to and accepted the invites on Google home. The thermostat never shows up in my Google home and if I try to add it I have the same issues as others such as asking for the code that isn't displayed because it says it's already registered. Other attempts have included scanning the qr code on the back of the Nest but I get a message saying connection could not be established. Please advise

Hello JonnyWenglish,

I'm sorry to hear about the issues that you're having when trying to access your Nest thermostat from the Google Home app. I'd be happy to take a look into this for you.

Make sure that you use the same email account from the Nest app with your thermostat in the Google Home app. If verified, check for other available structures where your thermostat might be connected. Check out this guide on how to switch homes.

Let me know if that helps.

Best regards,
Mark

I have the same issue. I got a new phone, installed the app, went to add the device and it says it's already connected to an account. I've logged in to my Google Home account and tried to add the device that way, and after I scan the QR code it gives me an error. "Unable to start device pairing. Configuration not available."312902885_637112377901992_7444900320220007494_n.jpg

Hi folks,

Thank you for taking the time in letting us know about your inquiry, @Belladonna. Let's sort this out.

There's no need to add your Nest thermostat again to the Google Home app if it was already added to your account. Make sure that you're signed in with the right email address and try checking the other available structures as well, and let us know how it goes.

@JonnyWenglish, I'm checking back in. Were you able to do the steps above? I'd be glad to hear from you — I'd like to make sure everything is working.

Best regards,

Mark

I have used every permutation possible for logging into Google Home. If I log into Nest through my browser it uses the comcast.com email. I have a Google account for that email, and for a gmail account. Neither will allow me to access or even see the Nest via Google Home. I tried restarting the Nest, per the instruction in support on the Nest app, but I still can't get the entry key.

Hello Belladonna,

Thanks for the update. Going over the steps here might help:

  1. If you have access to your thermostat on the Nest app, verify the email account in the settings.
  2. Once verified, go back to the Google Home app and check the account connected in the top right hand corner.
    1. If it's different, change it by clicking the drop-down arrow beside the email and selecting "Add another account" to enter the right email.
  3. Then check for other home structures as well.
    1. At the top, tap the name of the current home.
    2. Select a new home from the drop-down. If the drop-down icon doesn’t appear, it means you only have one home in the Home app.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Mark

As I was documenting the steps I've taken, I moved through the different screens, and when I went back to the main Home screen, the thermostat "magically" appeared. I didn't make any changes in any of the screens, so I'm not sure why it finally appeared, but the issue seems to be resolved.

Hey, Belladonna.

I'm happy to see things are working for you now. Sometimes a restart or a reset or an update you're not aware of hitting a device can restore missing functionality. Hopefully things stay stable for you going forward. I'll check back in after a few days and we can see how things are going. If anything changes between now and then, just let us know.

Thanks,

Jeff
