boiler on but thermostat off

Hi, help please.. warm day and heating is switched off according to the nest and in fact I've switched it off completely in the app.. and it shows as being off.. but the boiler is still on! The heat link is in the cupboard where the old controls used to be and has one green light showing. I pressed the middle button and it showed the heating on manual on the thermostat so the communication between the two is fine. I switched it off again.. but the boiler is still on. Any help taken! Thanks

Hi there! Sorry to hear that you encountered issues with your thermostat, but I'll do my best to assist you. You should perform a click test to determine if the issue is related to your thermostat or to another part of your heating system. That being said, please go near your Heat Link and activate the heating from the app and let me know if you hear a click. After that, please turn off the heating from the thermostat and check if you can hear the "click" sound. You should hear a click when you call for heat and another click when you deactivate it.

I've done that and there is a click at the same time as the pop of the button. The lights went on and off too.

Just to confirm: did you press the middle button on the Heat Link (Manual Mode) when performing the click test I've told you about previously or did you took the app and called for heat / turned the heat off and heard the "click" sound?

I pressed the middle button.

If it helps, I switched the heat link off and on last night to see if that helped. When it went off, the boiler went off, but when it went back on again, the boiler just went on, regardless of the thermostat saying it was off. I think the hot water is still on too, as despite the thermostat and app saying it's off, the water is still hot. I've turned the temperature down on the boiler in meantime. It's all new and was installed last August.

Understood. When the manual mode is activated, the heating and the hot water are always on. Please deactivate the Manual Mode, by pressing once again on the middle button of the Heat Link. When the Manual Mode is activated you should see 3 lights. When you deactivate the Manual Mode, you should see only one green light, like in the photo you sent above. Please perform the click test using the App, trying the steps I mentioned above and let me know if you can hear the "click" sound when you call for heat and when you turn the heating off.

Thanks for letting me know. I've sent you an email with a form. Please complete it with the details I need and tell me here once it's done.

Hi, thanks for your help with this. I'll not fill out the form as the plumber that fitted the boiler came out and the fault lay with one of the pumps next to the hot water tank wasn't cutting out and constantly feeding the radiators. We're getting a new one and the heating is off now. Fingers crossed this sorts the problem. It doesn't seem to have been either the heat link nor the thermostat that was at fault. Your help has been much appreciated.
