can i see the weather AND the room temperature at the same time?

a lot of thermostats can show on the default screen the room weather PLUS the external weather. i know my previous lennox smart thermostat did this, but i had to get rid of it due to the clicking noise.

i haven't been able to find this setting for the nest learning thermostat. is this possible or not?

Hi fjleon,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the delay. Google Nest thermostats do more than let you change the temperature. They also let you know what's happening. For instance, your thermostat can show you important notifications about issues with your system, the ambient temperature, the temperature your system is set to reach, and more.

You can choose what Farsight shows you, or turn it off in your Nest thermostat's settings:

  • The thermostat's target temperature
  • The current room temperature
  • An analog clock
  • A digital clock
  • The weather and forecast

By default on the 3rd gen Nest Learning Thermostat, Farsight is turned on and set to show you the target temperature. You can turn Farsight off or change what it shows you on your thermostat's screen or in the Home app.

On your thermostat

  1. Press the thermostat ring to open the Quick View screen.
  2. Turn the ring to Settings Settings icon and press to select.
  3. Select Display Farsight.
  4. Choose what Farsight will show you. To turn it off, select None.

In the Home app

  1. Open the Home app
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices
  3. Tap your thermostat Settings Thermostat Farsight.
  4. To turn Farsight on or off, tap the switch next to "Use Farsight."
  5. Tap the feature that you want Farsight to show when it's active. You can choose the temperature, a clock or the weather.

Best,

Jenelyn

thanks for replying but you didn't read / understand my question properly. I'm looking to see the current temperature of the room, plus the external temperature, plus the target temperature set. farsight doesn't show all of those at the same time, just one of them. it looks like Google didn't have the foresight (pun intended) that most thermostat designers do.  Turning off farsight was the first thing i did. i didn't want to activate the screen every time i walk around near it.

Hello everyone,

I'm barging in to add additional information.

Thanks for the help here, Jenelyn.

@fjleon. having the weather temperature along with the ambient temperature and set temperature shown on the Nest Thermostat screens is not applicable. We're always looking for ways to improve, and we appreciate your feedback about the Farsight options. Having that said, please let our product team know about this through feedback.

Feel free to post again if you have any other questions or concerns in the future. We're here to help.

Best regards,
Mark
