how do I turn of pre hear on nest- over 8 years old

This drives me mad- I wish heating on for 1 hour at 6 am and it comes on for hours at 2 am! honestly mad system. I know it can change but it is difficult- can anybody talk me through the steps. Currently I just turn on nest to heat and then turn it off again when I want it off ( eco mode not heat)
