I have been using my Nest thermostat device for several years. Today the app wouldn't connect to the device unless I migrated my account to Google. I attempted to do so however the old account is still under an old Email address that I no longer have access to. I tried to set up under my new address however I cannot get the verification code as I don't have the old email. I attempted to set up from scratch but I cannot get the verification off the device, it just says "this device is already connected to an account and I cannot get past this.

Hi mschrampfer,
Uh-oh! If you're encountering difficulties with migrating your Nest Thermostat account to Google due to not having access to the old email address associated with your account, perform a factory reset on your Nest Thermostat. This will remove any existing account information and allow you to set up the device from scratch. However, be aware that a factory reset will erase all settings and configurations on the thermostat, and you'll need to reconfigure it completely as if it were a new installation. After resetting the thermostat, add it to a new Nest account.
Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Zoe

I found some instructions on doing this by searching deeper online. It worked, these instructions I found were more accurate than what I found in the forums.
Thank you for responding

Hi mschrampfer,
Great! I'm glad that everything has been sorted out, and I appreciate your sharing the steps you took to resolve this case. Could you share here the steps you took so that platinumwhitty could also follow them?
Thanks,
