hello. I installed my nest wiring w, y, c, r, o/b, G. It works great in cool mode, but when I put it on heat it heats up and cools at the same time.

Hello karmau,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Google Nest Community. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your Nest Thermostat when switching to heat mode. The simultaneous heating and cooling might be due to a wiring or configuration issue. Can you post a picture of your Nest Thermostat's wiring setup?

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,
Mark

thanks for helping

I'm not experienced in air conditioning but if it's ok in cooling mode. It could be a nest defect. heat and cool together in heat mode.

Hi there,

Perfect! Thanks for your Nest Thermostat photo. Have you tried switching the heat pump orientation? If you haven't yet, please give these steps a whirl:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap your thermostat.
  3. At the top right, tap Settings.
  4. Select Thermostat.
  5. Scroll until you find Heat pump. It should show which wire configuration is currently selected.
    1. If the O option is highlighted, select B.
    2. If the B option is highlighted, select O.
  6. To make sure that the issue is resolved, restart your thermostat before testing it for heating and cooling again.

Keep me posted.

Best,
Mark

Hey karmau,

Got it. Have you had a chance to perform a factory reset on your thermostat and reconfigure it with your system? Also, can you share with me your HVAC system's make and model?

Thanks,
Mark
