nest thermostat won't turn cooling on

Hello,

I've confirmed our nest learning thermostat is indeed compatible with the Bosch Split System Heat Pump | R410A, although yesterday our Bosch installer suggested otherwise because he's never worked with nest. The installers answer to getting our system to cool is as pictured - ie: disconnecting our nest & using our breaker panel to turn the Bosch on/off. Yep. For real. Is there specific wiring or Bosch set-up in order to make this combination work? Many, many thanks in advance.
