It is hot during the day (98). I am running thermostat at 77. At night, to save energy and open the windows, what is the best way to shut the system down. I would like AC in the morning, at 4:30 and would like to have it come on then to start cooling down the environment for the day.
Thanks.

Hello tmpbm79,
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry.
Have you tried creating a temperature schedule? I'd suggest creating it at your desired temperature at a specific time. Please take a look at this article and let us know if you need more help.

No "trouble", just need best guidance. I can simply turn up the thermost to insure the AC doesn't come on...or perhaps use the app or the dial, not to have to do that.
I am old and need help...I also thought I was pretty smart.HaHa.

Hi tmpbm79,
You're doing great! I understand that navigating a smart device can be confusing sometimes. To be sure, could you please tell me the Nest Thermostat model you have?
I'll look forward to your response.

NEST THERMOSTAT E

Hi tmpbm79,
Gotcha! The Nest Thermostat doesn't have an option to automatically turn off the HVAC system unless you switch the temperature mode to Off state. But creating a schedule temperature would help you so your AC will turn on automatically at your desired temperature and specific time.
Disclaimer: Your system won't turn on if the inside temperature is the same as your desired temperature.
You can create your temperature schedule in the Nest app, so it would be easier for you to navigate. Open the Nest app, and on the home screen, select your thermostat, then tap the Schedule button. (Calendar icon).
Let me know if you need more help.

Mark
