No C wire in the thermostat. As an alternative got Nest Power Connector installed. Nest confirms wiring ok but thermostat battery still running low. What could be wrong?

Can you advise as to what model and generation your nest thermostat is?

I do not want to go backwards, however, I want to cover the bases so to speak.

Your current thermostat cable has no unused conductor wires at the thermostat. Correct?

You installed the Nest Power Connector in the air handler?
