presence sensing keeps turning back on

I keep shutting off presence setting and it automatically turns back on. I have farsight set to off. I read earlier threads but they all reference phones-there are 3 toggles on the presence sensing part of the google home app- the first two are related to phones- those are off and stay off. the THIRD one is about the thermostat itself- "touch control and motion sensor"- I have shut it off but as soon as I leave that page it turns itself back on.
