thermostat shutting off when hits desired temp

When using the AC ( and heat as well), once the desired temperature is reached the system stops running and I have to flip the breaker switch for it to restart. It had been running fine. Any suggestions?

Hi konelit,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum. It is normal that your system will turn off once the Nest Thermostat has reached your desired temperature as per its algorithm. You can learn more about this by checking this article

Let us know if you have any other questions. We're happy to help.

Hi Zoe. I did see it but I think I didn't explain the problem correctly. I know how thermostats work and they go off when the desired temp is reached. What I meant is that the unit goes off and does not turn back on. Now the heat won't go on either so I will make an appointment with a HVAC specialist in case it's not the thermostat. Its a new heat pump unit and thermostat and was working fine.

Hi there,

I'm sorry for the delay. How's the functionality of your system? Is it still doing the same thing? Were you able to contact an HVAC technician? Please let us know if the issue persists, as we'll be willing to take a closer look and assist you further.

I appreciate your help, Zoe.

Best,

Jenelyn
