AC-1304 Ethernet Port Can't Connect At Gb...Only 100Mb

My Xfinity internet provides me 600Mbps connection. Their router (with 2 Gigabit ethernet ports) gives me ~300-400Mbps on the Wifi to my laptop. But, my Google 3 puck mesh AC-1304 that is connected to the Xfinity Gb port only gives my 80-90Mbps wifi BECAUSE IT NO LONGER CONNECTS AT Gb. It's now ONLY connecting at 100Mbps speeds. I spent several hours today isolating this problem to GOOGLE...Xfinity equipment and service is working as advertised. AND, this is NEW. I've had this same install for 2 years and this just started. Previous wifi -> internet speed tests with same setup in past 2 years were giving me 150-250Mbps using a variety of devices.

The problem is the AC-1304 NOT able to do a Gb connection anymore...New firmware?

Please tell me this is a known problem and being worked on. I don't want to chuck my AC-1304 in the trash bin.

Identical problem with Spectrum service.  Wireless and ethernet signal from A-1304 is one-third the speed of the signal at the modem.

There was a thread from September 2021 that bordered on this issue.  https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Nest-Wifi/Wired-Wireless-Upload-speeds-capped-at-100mbps-ATT-...

Google said it was a "known issue" and they were working on it, but the thread has no report of a fix.

Hey folks,

Thanks for posting ― let's see what's happening.

Could you confirm if you're using a CAT5 ot CAT6 Ethernet cable for your Google Wifi?

Best,

Mel

When I first wrote, I was using cat 6 from modem to router and cat 5 from router to desktop computer.  All other devices were wireless.

Since then, however, I ran the line from the modem to a different Google WiFi puck (using a cat 5 line) and have gotten much better results.  I wonder if there was a problem with the puck that was a router, and is now just an access point.

Hi PeterB1,

Thanks for providing those details. CAT5 Ethernet cables are only able to provide up to 100 MBPS. I suggest upgrading your CAT5 cables into CAT5e or CAT6 Ethernet cables for faster internet speeds.

Best,

Mel
