Adding Nest Wifi point fails at Connecting to Wifi

I no longer have the qr code for my point, when inputing the code listed on the device, i get "wrong code". When I input the code on the router the app allows me to proceed. The app then moves on to "Connecting to Wi-Fi" where repaeatedly i get "Could not communicate with your Nest Wi-Fi point". This does not happen with the other point, which leads me to believe it is a device failure. Is that in fact the case?

It's unlikely. Not saying this is the case, but is it be possible the setup code was entered incorrectly?

The code is engraved into the bottom of the device right at the edge near the power connector. Since the rubber is a grey colour and the numbers are recessed into the rubber, it can be pretty easy to misread them, even with multiple looks. Make sure you have plenty of light and maybe take one more peek?

The setup code should be 8 characters long and contains letters and numbers. I'll include an example below. You can click it for a closer look.

Looks good to me! It could be worth trying zero 0 instead of the letter O?

If that doesn't work, have you tried resetting the Wifi point?

  1. Press and hold the factory reset button located on the bottom.
  2. After about 5 seconds, your device will begin the factory reset process. Continue to hold the button for about 10 seconds, until there's a sound confirming the device is resetting.

Yes I have reset the point, then I tried the router and the point, then uninstalled the app and installed the newest version of the app as well. I tried Zero rather than the letter O and that was the issue, good greif that is ridiculous.

Glad you got it sorted! It might be worth writing down and saving your setup keys somewhere safe in case you need them again in the future.
