Adding a wired Google Point - will the older Google WiFi (Gen 1) Router work?

Lincoln_Roberts

Hi everyone, my father has a Google Nest WiFi 2200 system working in his house.  He wants Internet working in his garage, which is a long way away.  He's run Ethernet cable coming from the 2200 router in the house.

Can the original Google WiFi (Gen 1) be configured as a point on the network via Ethernet?  Or is the newer Google Nest system the only way?

Thanks.

Nest Wifi router (AC2200), Nest Wifi point (AC1200) and Google Wifi (AC1200) are all compatible. The only thing to not mix in, is the newer Nest Wifi Pro, as it's not backwards compatible.

I'd set up the Google Wifi as a wireless point first, while it being close to the Nest Wifi router in the house. When complete, unplug the power, move it to the garage, connect the ethernet cable to its' WAN port, and power it on.
