After factory reset, WAN port refuses to connect

Last night, all my wifi points including my main one disconnected, and their WiFi names returned to what they were before setup. The main WiFi point still had a white light but was refusing to connect.

I factory reset all points but when I try to add the main router, it says that the WAN cable isn’t plugged in correctly. I’ve tried with multiple cables, and I’ve confirmed they work by testing with my computer.

Hi - how did you factory reset the device?  Software reset (mean't from the app) or manually hard reset the device?

How to hard reset / factory reset:

Try to follow these steps and let us know how it goes:

  1. On the bottom of the router, locate a circle etched into the device, then press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds. The light will pulse yellow, then turn solid yellow. When the light is solid yellow, release the button. The light will turn solid white for about 5 seconds, then turn solid yellow.
  2. The reset process starts once the light turns solid yellow. It can take up to 10 minutes for the router to complete the reset, so don't unplug the power cord during this process.
  3. When the factory reset is complete, the light on the router turns a faint solid white light. After a few seconds, it should pulse white.
  4. Once the Nest Wifi router pulses white, it's ready for setup.

Hope it helps...

Hi Dylanc,

It's definitely concerning that your Google Wifi points all disconnected and then refused to connect, even after a factory reset. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

Double-check WAN Connection:

  • Ensure the WAN cable is firmly plugged into both the Google Wifi router and your modem. Verify that the cable isn't damaged or frayed.
  • Try using a different ethernet cable, even if you tested the others with your computer. Sometimes cables can work for one device but not another.
  • Restart your modem and wait for it to fully boot up before powering on the Google Wifi router again.

Troubleshooting the Google Wifi Router:

  • Double-check if the reset process was successful. Sometimes, the reset might not complete properly. Refer to the official Google Wifi documentation for detailed reset instructions.
  • Connect the Google Wifi router directly to your computer using an ethernet cable and see if you can access the Google Wifi web interface (192.168.86.1). If you can, check for any firmware updates and install them.
  • If you still can't connect, try a different power adapter for the Google Wifi router.

Thanks for helping, krishnbha!

Best,

Dan

Hey I ended up fixing the problem, I think it was because I had to reset all WiFi points so now it works! Hopefully no more problems arise but thanks for responding
