Broadening Nest WIFI Coverage?

Varyattractive

Hey there - looking for any tips people may have.

My Nest Wifi hub is on one side of my house by nature of where the Verizon FiOs port enters my home. My challenge is that I am installing an outdoor TV on the polar opposite side of the house, meaning my Nest Wifi does not reach over here. As I do research, it seems that I cannot add another Nest pod because they're meant to be stacked up and down, not put in random other parts of the house.

What are my options? Will an extender even work? Do I need to just extend an ethernet cable all the way across my house and above ceilings and hard wire this new TV? That's expensive, so making sure there are no good alternatives before paying the price...

Additional Nest Wifi units can be used to extend sideways too, not just up and down.

About placement:

Other cheaper alternatives (than pulling ethernet all the way) includes ethernet over coax (MoCA) or powerline.

I don't work for Google.

This is so helpful; thank you! When I messaged Google support a few months ago, they said that mesh routers need to be placed in a vertical line... so your advice is crucial. I just ordered an extra pod to see if it works.

I was looking at a MoCa setup as well, so good to see you recommend that as a solution as well.

Thank you for taking time to respond to my message!

Hmm, that vertical line thing was a strange recommendation.

You're welcome. 🙂
