Can a single Nest Wi-Fi Pro work as a point with my existing ISP’s Wi-Fi 6 router?

Hi,

I think I probably only need 1 additional mesh network point to ensure the dead zone in my house is covered well. Can I continue to use my brand new Wi-Fi 6 certified router from my Internet Service Provider (Telia in Sweden) as my router, with one Nest Wi-Fi Pro acting as a point to ‘serve’ the dead zone? I am concerned that the Nest Pro must act as the router, which would require me to purchase an additional unit to act as the point.

Thanks in advance for your input!

It can't act as a wireless mesh point with anything but another Nest Wifi Pro. But you can put it in bridge mode, then use it as a "dumb" access point with an ethernet cable going back to your ISP equipment.

Thanks a lot for the concise answer. Feels a bit excessive to purchase 3 x products when I am pretty sure 1 will do the job. I guess I will try find an alternative that will allow me add one product to work with the original router.

Look for an extender or repeater. For best performance something Wi-Fi 6, preferably with a dedicated band (triband) for the backhaul. Maybe something like Netgear EAX80.
