My setup Wifi network just disappears half way through the set-up. It connects to it after the QR code scan but then it drops and can't be seen again

1. Disconnect power to all points
2. Disconnect power to the wifi
3. Power cycle my ISP router
4. Wait till Internet is back on ISP router
5. Reconnect power to mesh wifi
6. Reconnect power to all points
This has fixed my connect issues on my points. Hope this helps.

I followed the necessary steps to fully reset the network. Then, after completing those steps I held down the reset button underneath the nest point. I didn’t know this button was even there. Allowed the device to reset, reconnected via the Home app and it worked like a charm. Hope this helps anyone still having issues.

I had to delete everything and start from scratch. When it came to adding my point, it wouldn't connect to wifi and I was really surprise. So I did a hard reset to my point only with the button on the bottom. That took care of my problem, now everything is up running smoothly.

Need help connecting 2 points to my Google Wi-Fi

I need help connecting 2 Google nest points. Haven’t been able to connect, even on phone for 2 hours with Google fiber tech.

Same issue. Factory reset solved the problem temporarily, but after a few days or less the point starts to have problems again and devices won't connect (eg. Pixel 6 phone, Shield TV). Resetting the problematic point results in this problem again, the point won't complete the setup to join the mesh.
I've paid to much to be wasting my time factory reset my network every few days!

So I was going thru the problem as well. Almost gave up. Then I searched on YouTube and found a solution.
1. Put Point and Router side by side.
2. Factory reset Pointer and Router. (There is a reset in bottom of both devices. Small little unnoticeable button. )
3. Took of Bluetooth!!
Worked like a charm after this!!!! I'm leaving link in bottom maybe this will help

Same issue here, full-day troubleshooting all the above and more on Reddit.
Live Support wasn't able to resolve this over the phone and now support is having issues getting into contact with me due to my work schedule and timezone differences.
I'm not spending more hours of my time troubleshooting a newly purchased product. Returning to supplier.

I get to the Connected stage alright. I have problems after that. It keeps saying “Waiting for the final bits of setup to complete” and then the lights stop blinking on the second WiFi Point and it then says “The operation timed out and couldn’t be completed”. I have retried all the steps mentioned above to no other result. My first WiFi Point is working fine and is connected. Very frustrating.

I need help please

Hi I wanted to create a wired backbone for my 2nd wifi nest router. I wanted to add it, no success without cable no matter what i did. So i did the cable wired setup that helped me to adding the device to my mesh system. The only one serious issue with this setup that the wifi isn't working... So i spent a lot money to buy this expensive 2nd nest router to fully use my ISP/WIFI potential and the wifi why i bought it isn't working... Has anyone this or i should send it back? I'm afraid this is a glitch not a product issue. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have tried all possible solutions, none worked.
I had the original Google Wifi, later bought Google Nest, added them to the original setup as repeaters. Today, I got a new mobile connection (5G), so it was the time to switch, since the 4/5th of the new bandwidth just disapperared between the mobile router and Google Wifi (50mbps vs 400mbps).
So, reset the system, and started from the Nest. It is up, and working (with 2 repeaters in 2 other rooms), so I tried to add the old Google Wifi. And it gave up at he last steps (cannot connect to). I checked the wifi, and when the error comes in, the repeater does not show sighs of the setup wifi Google Home wants to connect to. It connects beforehand, in one of the steps, but later the process either does not need to connect again, (so the process steps are the problem), OR the app gives an order to the Wifi to swith off the wifi, AND than it starts to search for it.
Anyway, tried the hardwire setup, the factory reset and the Nest Cloud off version as well, none worked.
At some point I was thinking of a planned sabotage, to push these old, but reliable devices out from the market, so the owners buy new ones...

Know the feeling, mine are only 2 months old, so I don’t know what is going on with Google.
Anyway although it’s working ok, I have got used to the wifi not loading on the Google app. So I guess that’s the way it’s goons be. Thanks to all who have tried to help & resolve this issue. James 👍🏼

I had the same issue. But with the Nest router, so not just with the old model has this. I called the google home support line in US, we did several restarts and resets to factory but none of helped. The technician promised me he will consult with his senior colleague and will inform me in an email but no reply since that.. The technician was also surprised about this strange issue, but even with remote connection to my home was unable to see where is the root cause of this. As a big company as google this is crazy, they have a malfunctioning device with no deep enough knowledge by the technicians to solve it...

Exactly, it’s a little crazy. Google products Google home app, and it doesn’t load. 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks for all the helpful comments everyone. James.

My case at google nest support still open. I was digging here to understand my problem and i found something:
My original setup with one nest router and two APs working fine they cam from US, they were in the same pack. However my addigional nest router which not be member of the wifi (no wifi radio, just copper connection) and it came from a germany source. Can cause this that is not works with the US devices? I know there must be different wifi regulations in different regions, did any off you checked this, that the additional AP or router probably from different country setup on it?
10-05-2022 10:38 AM
Yes this was the problem. Sent back to store the german unit, purchased a brand new US model from ebay. Configured working perfectly, now i have full 5Ghz speed in my home. Maybe my story could help others. Necessary to check they are must be from the same country code, this matters because wifi regulations different coutry by country.

I had this same issue and figured that during setup (adding the additional point) the Google Wifi Point wasn't connected to the internet and this is the reason it kept giving an error message.
So as someone else suggested, I connected the Wifi Point to the Nest Router via Ethernet, then successfully added it to the network and created a mesh!
Then I simply unplugged it, moved it and everything worked as it should!
Very strange that I had to do this but there we are!

Same problem here using iPhone 13. Tried using my iPad, and had success.

Couple of good recommended resolutions for everyone here.
would be interesting to see if these work for others that are having the same issue!

Unfortunately no. Not the wired ethernet, not switching to ipad. I am stuck. spent a good 8-10 hours trying (wasted), gave up. I’ll abandon this **bleep**ty hardware, and buy something that works.

Hi,
My issue was resolved when I found a different phone in my home, and with this phone, I could find the point and complete the configuration.
Not a good solution but at least anyone else facing the issue should try to find the endpoint and configure it with different phones \ tablets at home; maybe one of them will work.
I am about to try and add additional point this week so I will update if it will go smoother this time.

SAME FRUSTRATING ISSUE AND I CANNOT RETURN TO BEST BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COMPLETE JUNK!
11-18-2022 06:31 AM
I was able to fix my issue my temporarily using an Ethernet connection to the device. This will let the new device mesh. Once the initial mesh is complete, you can unplug and use it wirelessly as normal.

Try the suggestion which worked for Osubucknutz and myself.
this should sort it for you!

I was having the same issues connecting a Nest Wifi Point to my Nest Wifi Router using a Pixel 6 Pro. When I used an Ipad with iOS 16, it connected like a champ.

Can’t get second and third Wi-Fi mesh round white can devices to connect to the first device

Brand new "wifi router and 2 wifi point" pack from Amazon in Australia, router works great on its own, wifi points connect to it but won't do the final mesh connection "something went wrong, check your internet connection". Spent hours on it, hard resets, uninstall/reinstall app etc. No Lan port on the wifi point, nothing else left to try. Aboslutely ridiculous, has 100% has ruined the Google product name for me.

Try putting your router into bridge mode.. probably requires assistance from your ISP

Hopefully this helps - I Had a new modem/router installed and subsequent issues with my Google Mesh. I was able to, easily, reset the Google Mesh main Router (which is connected to my Xfinity Modem/Router via ethernet cable). I could NOT connect my two mesh wifi points. Unplugging them wasn't doing it, as I thought based on other instructions. First, I was using Google Home on an Iphone. I enabled bluetooth, for the app, disabled cellular for the app, enabled the LAN connection setting, and made sure my Iphone was on the Google mesh router network rather than my xfinity. Then, what I seemed to be missing before, I pressed the factory reset button on the wifi points (I did each separately through the entire process) and waited for the access point to totally re-boot and prompt with music and voice. THEN, when the light pulses white, you can set up a new device and then enter the set up code on the bottom of the access point. It should guide you through the next steps with prompts.

Just as a heads up since I also had this happen at two houses. Different isps and devices. IF you use iOS (iPhone), make sure there is no “iCloud Private Relay” on which hides and encrypts your IP. It comes with iCloud +. If not that, make sure you aren’t using a VPN on setup.
