Can't connect to Nest Wi-Fi Pro on 6 GHz

So, I can't get my Pixel 7 Pro to connect to the Nest Wi-Fi Pro on a 6 GHz band (verified through Android directly, and through apps). It's always on 5 GHz, wherever I am in the house (I have 3 Nest Wi-Fi Pro).

Not only that, but my speedtests are actually slower on the Pixel 7 Pro than on Pixel 6 Pro or the iPhone 14 Pro, as soon as I'm not right next to the first router. At a certain point, for example, I get 400 Mbps on the Pixel 6 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro, but 200 on the 7 Pro (even without a case).

Does anyone know :

1 - how I can force it to connect to 6 GHz

2 - what could explain the speed issues?

Contact Pixel support apperently:

And/ or Nest support:

While others have had better success with this combination:

This user had some suggestions for things to try, like making sure WPA3 is enabled for 6ghz to work well:

I was actually able to, and now it seems to go on it more, but I'm having speed issue on 6 GHz.

Hey folks,

@olavrb,. thanks for the help.

@Effetk, give these steps a try:

  1. If you're using a modem/router combo, set that to bridge mode to avoid double NAT issues.
  2. Make sure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.) and the points are no more than two rooms apart.
  3. Remove any special characters in your network name and password.
  4. Turn off IPv6.
  5. Change your DNS server into 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.
  6. Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.
  7. If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Mel

Hi @Effetk

Chiming in to ensure everything is good here. Have you had the chance to try the suggestion above? If yes, how is it?

Best,
Abi
