Can't connect to a certain remote hostname

Just recently, I'm not able to connect to a certain remote hostname (fcsn.btihosted.com) necessary for an Avaya soft phone app

If I bypass the Google Wifi equipment and connect directly to my Comcast Xfinity cable modem, or connect with a smartphone hotspot and mobile provider, then I'm OK -- I can ping the hostname and it's IP address 50.227.206.22

I restarted the Google Wifi equipment. DNS was set to custom (9.9.9.9) but I tried automatic and ISP as well, but no change.

Hey @pjm2 .

I am able to reach the site with no issues on a Nest Wifi Pro network with most options enabled so I don't think it is the device itself but a setting you have enabled or made a change to which is why the site is reachable when you bypass the Google Wifi. The DNS provider that you had configured could be the issue if they have protocols in place that prevent connection to unsecure sites.

Try this:

  • Change you DNS settings to the Google DNS (same as mine and I have no issues) and restart the entire network afterwards
  • Check Network settings if there are still issues after the above and turn off each advanced feature one at a time and test. If there is no difference, re-enable the feature and do the same process with the next one and repeat until all are verified as not being the cause. If you find the culprit. leave it turned off.
  • Check your device settings, especially if it is an Apple product. Apple enables many features by default that can cause issues when downloading or even reaching a site.

Let me know if this resolves the issue or if you need additional assistance.
