I've tried to change my LAN IP address. Like a previous commenter, I can change the field values in the Advanced Networking / LAN Settings dialog, but when I hit save the values are not saved.
I called support:
Call 1: "Oh that takes 24 hours to take hold"
Call 2 (24+ hours later): "Oh, we meant 24 to 48 hours"
Call 3: "We don't know and are escalating you to the next level of support. They will be in contact soon."
Call 4 (36 hours later): "They'll call you in an hour. Also this is something that your internet provider needs to set."
Call 5: "You need a static IP address. Let's call your ISP together" (ISP, who I had already called, didn't see why a static IP was needed, and the Nest support rep hung up)
Call 6 (reconnecting after call 5): "The router doesn't allow you to change the LAN IP". The agent told me that:
a. The fields are greyed out in the LAN dialog and that means you can't change them. I indicated that I can change the values, and pointed to an actual read-only field in the Google home UI.
b. This isn't allowed. I asked why there is a support document titled "Set a custom LAN IP" (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7571856?hl=en) and they said that it is a very new product and this isn't supported functionality yet.
So, I'm on the cusp of returning the Nest wifi Pro but figured I'd take one last stab to see if there is anyone that knows any more. If someone from Google can confirm that this isn't supported functionality, that would be appreciated. Better still would be information about what I need to do in order to make the change I want stick.
My configuration:
ISP modem, direct to Nest wifi Pro and two extenders (the 3 pack wifi pro).
