Cannot connect to LAN devices via Google WiFi

Hello,

Previously I could wirelessly access LAN devices via Google WiFi - the wireless repeater that comes with 3 circular devices.

Specifically, I could access a NAS and a Sonos Bridge unit (wirelessly streams music).

Since I replaced my router, I can only access the NAS or Sonos wirelessly via the router.  The NAS and Sonos does not appear when connecting via Google WiFi.

Looking for advice on resolving the issue.

Background information:

I spoke with Google Help, and they say it's an issue with the NAS - the repeater is working fine.  But the Sonos bridge also doesn't appear.

When I originally purchased Google WiFi - in 2018 - the LAN devices didn't appear via Google WiFi, but a Google CSR was able to work with me to resolve the issue.  Google cannot share the original resolution, and I don't remember it.

My router is connected via coax cable to Verizon FIOS: LAN port 1 = empty, LAN port 2= NAS, LAN port 3= hardwired to a PC, LAN port 4= Sonos bridge

Google Mesh WAN (green) is connected to the router, LAN (gray) is connected to Sonos bridge

I am not the most tech savvy person.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

@DougNYC

You have a setup where some of your devices are connected to your Verizon router and some are connected behind your Google WIfi router, which is what is causing the issue. In simple terms, your Verizon router creates an outer network, and your Google Wifi router creates its own inner network for your devices, and devices connected to each other cannot communicate with each other, that's just one of the fundamentals of how networks work.

To resolve this, you need to connect all your devices behind Google Wifi. The most common way of doing this for wired devices is to get a simple unmanaged switch and connect it to the LAN port on Google Wifi. Then connect all your wired devices to this unmanaged switch.

HI David,

Thank you!  Putting all the devices behind Google WiFi via an unmanaged switch was a quick and easy solution.  I appreciate the helpful explanation of the cause.

Best,
Doug
