Cannot use OpenVPN

YMK
Community Member

I used OpenVPN to connect my company's website with previous wifi router.

But after I connected with Google Wifi, then the OpenVPN client is not working.

I tried "Tunnelblick" and "OpenVPN connect" with ".ovpn" credentials.

This screen capture is log of failure with Google Nest Wifi.

This capture is for log success with older wifi router.

Can I have any support?
Best regards.

Hi YMK,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with using VPN on your Google Wifi. Here are some key factors for VPN to properly function:

  • VPN must use an IP address outside the range of Google Wifi.
  • Some VPN services require a proper certificate be installed.
  • If service requires internal DNS, we would need to change the DNS of the client running the VPN to something other than the LAN IP of Google Wifi. We can do this by specifying DNS of the client device.
  • The VPN service being ran may require ports to be unblocked on the client device's Firewall.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Edward
