Canon Printer issues with Nest Wifi Pro

JakeWH

I'm curious if anyone has had the same issue inside. I set up The Google Nest Wifi Pro with 2 wifi points the other day. I haven't had any issues connecting anything in my home, TV, laptop, desktop, etc, except for today when I attempted to print something on yy Canon G6000 series printer.

I keep getting a notice that says the printer is unavailable.

I connected to the printer to the Wi-Fi just fine, but it still says that the printer is unavailable when trying to print from both my phone and laptop.

I tried printing through the Canon app which asked me to reset my network, which I did twice. Both times, it appeared to connect on the printer and on my phone.

However, I am still unable to contact the printer even though they are both connected to Wi-Fi and connected to the same network.

Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

Hi @JakeWH,

Thanks for reaching out! I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer isn't cooperating. Since your other devices are connecting to the Nest Wifi Pro without issues, it does sound like there might be something specific to your printer causing the problem.

Have you tried checking if your printer is compatible with both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi networks? The Nest Wifi Pro uses both bands, so it's possible your printer might be having trouble with one of them. If you're unsure, reaching out to Canon's support might be helpful. They can provide specific guidance on your printer model.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best Regards,

Mario.

Hi Mario,

Thank you for your reply. The issue with my printer has somehow fixed itself (if only temporarily) without me doing anything further. However, The same issue keeps jumping around to different devices, most commonly, one of my 3 Nest Minis or the Pixel tablet speaker dock.

They will either disappear from my home network altogether, or only show up  randomly or give me messaging that while the speakers have been set up correctly, they cannot find each other.

I've reset the Nest minis and network several times and sometimes it resolves, if only temporarily again.

Currently, one of my Nest minis stop connecting a couple days ago and I've reset the network and the Mini itself several times. After reconnecting, I just get a message again saying that while I set it up correctly, they are unable to find each other on the network.

This is where I'm at currently.

Just now I resent the Mini. Google home said, "Nest Minis Found. Do you want to set up?"

I hit the yes button and the speaker made a sound. Google Home asked I heard the sound.

Again, I tapped yes. Google Home says it's connecting.

Then I get the same message that while everything was set up correctly they cannot find each other and to make sure they are on the same network, which they are.

This router also doesn't have AP Isolation and the PnP is enabled.

If I exit the setup, it can no longer find the Mini most times and I have to reset everything, or if it does find it, which is rare, it cannot connect.

Hi @JakeWH,

Thanks for posting on our community page. I understand how frustrating this must be! It sounds like you've gone through quite a bit of trouble trying to set up your Nest Mini. Let's see if we can figure this out together.

To start, please ensure you're using a compatible device and the latest app version:

  • Mobile device: Android 9.0 or later, iOS 15.0 or later
  • Google Home app: Make sure it's up-to-date on both Android and iOS.

Next, let's try resetting your network equipment:

  • Wi-Fi router: Unplug it for about a minute, then plug it back in.
  • Nest Mini: Disconnect the power cable, wait a few moments, then reconnect.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Best Regards,

Mario.

Hi Mario,

  Thank you for your response.

I've actually already done everything you've listed above several times. This specific issue only started after switching routers from the older Google routers to the new Pro ones. At first, it was the Pixel Tablet dock that had issues finding the mini's (I have 3). It would find 2, but not the third. And it wasn't always the same two that it would find.

Then it was one of the minis that wouldn't work. I reset it. That was the 1st time I got the message stating that while the mini was set up correctly, Google Home couldn't find it on the network. Resetting the mini again solved that issue.

A day or two later the same issue moved to the printer, stating that the printer was set up correctly but couldn't be found on the network. I again reset the network several times and nothing worked. After a few days, the issue resolved itself.

The next day, another one of the mini's disappeared from the network. I reset it and got the same message; "setup correctly - can't be found on the network'.  I've unplugged and reset many, many, many times but this one still can't be found on the network.

But I'm going to do it again  - unplugging the router and factory resetting the mini...

..and for some reason it worked that time. So we're good. Thank you, Mario.
