Compatibility of nest WiFi with UK broadband providers

MSimpson91

I have a nest WiFi router and a point. I was previously with BT broadband and Google technical support told me that I needed to contact them to put my router into bridge mode. BT said that they cannot do that and I would need to buy a separate router. I have since switched to Sky Broadband and have read about problems on these forums about standard modems being able to access a sky broadband connection.

My question is around whether it is possible to use sky broadband with nest WiFi and a point and if so how can I do this?

It seems strange to me that Google does not provide more advice and information about this to help make it as smooth a process as possible. There are potentially lots of people buying kit that they will then not be able to use.

Nest Wifi is mostly just like any other 3rd party home NAT router. It should be up to the ISP to provide info whether their setup and equipment supports 3rd party routers, not the other way around.

Here are the info on what WAN types Nest Wifi supports:

If you ISP uses VLAN tags, a managed switch might be required:

And about bridge mode, that's to avoid double NAT, which is desirable with any 3rd party router. More on that:

I don't work for Google.
